The Rat Came Back

COMPOSER: Evan Fein
SINGERS: soprano, mezzo, tenor, bass baritone
SCORE: piano
LENGTH: 1 Act/60M

A rollicking comic farce set in a crumbling castle in the French countryside.

This fast-paced comedy follows the adventures of a debonair, talking rat named Marcus and the hilarious attempts of three misguided humans to boot him from his kingly abode. American tech mogul, Guy, his Eastern European trophy wife, Tatiana, and her Argentine cowboy lover, Rico, scheme against Marcus and each other, entangling themselves in a Byzantine web of trickery and deceit, only to realize in the resulting chaos that all they ever wanted was each other. This happy-ever-after tale reminds us that no matter who we are life was made for love and friendship.

HISTORY: The Rat Came Back was commissioned in 2017 by the Opéra de Poche for their 2020 season, cancelled by Covid. 2021 also has been cancelled.
